Hillcrest Bowling Club Holds Annual General Meeting and Elects New Leadership

On 30th January 2025, Hillcrest Bowling Club hosted its Annual General Meeting (AGM), where members gathered to reflect on the club’s achievements and elect new leaders for the coming year. The evening was marked by discussions of the club’s successes, financial updates, and important decisions regarding the future of the club.

A Year of Achievements and Financial Overview

The AGM began with a rundown of the club’s accomplishments over the past 12 months. From competitive victories to social events, the members were reminded of just how vibrant and active the Hillcrest community is. A detailed financial overview was presented, highlighting the club’s financial position and the need to ensure ongoing sustainability.

In response to the financial outlook, it was agreed by members to increase the club’s annual subscriptions. This decision will help the club continue to provide its high level of services and maintain its facilities.

Elections and New Leadership

A key part of the evening was the election of new committee members. Members voted en bloc, and the entire committee was re-elected to serve for another 12 months. Members were reminded that they are encouraged to approach any committee member with ideas, concerns, or suggestions for the club.

A major highlight of the night was the election of Gary Jackson as the new Club President, who will serve a two-year term. In addition, the club reinstated the roles of Vice President and Junior President. Lyndon Harris was elected as Vice President, and Naomi Ramsden was chosen as Junior President.

Gary Jackson, who will also continue in his role as Games Secretary, said, “It’s an absolute honour to be elected as President, and I’m looking forward to working with the committee and our members to continue making Hillcrest a fantastic place for everyone. We’ve got great plans for the future, and I’m excited to be part of it.”

Thank You to Our Outgoing President

The meeting also included heartfelt thanks to John (Ralf) Farrell, who has served as the club’s President for an incredible nine years. Ralf’s dedication over nearly a decade has been instrumental in shaping the club’s direction and success.

Naomi Ramsden, Club Secretary, expressed her appreciation:
“John has been a pillar of this club for many years, and we’re truly grateful for everything he’s done and we’re lucky to have had him as our President for so long.”

Gratitude for Our Staff

As the meeting concluded, a special thanks was extended to Simmy and the bar staff for their dedication over the past 12 months. Their hard work has not gone unnoticed, and members acknowledged how much the team has contributed to the club’s friendly and welcoming atmosphere.

Naomi Ramsden summed up the evening: “thank you to all members present the turnout was a little light than previous years".  I’m really proud of everything we’ve achieved together this year. With the new leadership in place, we’re excited for the future of Hillcrest.”

With a strong leadership team and exciting plans for the future, Hillcrest Bowling Club is ready to take on 2025 with renewed energy and enthusiasm.
